1. Was the Harkness effective today? Why or Why not?
2. Do you prefer to Harkness about topics related to class material that we have already learned, or about new topics, like we did today? Explain why.
3. In which instance do you learn the most: harknessing already learned material, or new material before the start of a unit of study? Explain why.
4. Suppose I asked you to answer the question; Is progress our most important product by writing your answer on this blog. In what ways, if any, would this be more benificial to you than simply discussing the question as we did in class today?
1. The harkness was effective today because it got us thinking about the question. It related well to class, giving us a greater understanding of and more interest in the material we were about to learn.
ReplyDelete2. I prefer to harkness about topics we have not learned about because it makes me think more interested in the topics when we learn about them.
3. I learn more when we harkness before because it gets my brain focused and thinking before the start of the lesson.
4. This would be less beneficial because I would not have to have a discussion and compare my point with other points of view. I would be less involved and would have and end result of less ideas.
1.) We didn't come to a conclusion but I think it was effective in that it sparked interest in the topic that we will be learning about.
ReplyDelete2.) I prefer to talk about a topic that we have already learned about. I think that when you have a clear understanding of what you are talking about then you can bring in specific examples and overall have a batter understanding.
3.Often times in discussions we aren't exposed to new information except for opinions so I don't think you learn more factual information in either one. However you are learning more about what other people think in both.
4.) I think it is more beneficial to discuss it in Harkness discussions because then you can hear others opinions and go off of those. It also forces you to re-access your own opinions and expand your ideas.

ReplyDelete1. The discussion today was effective because it changed my understanding of the trimester question. My opinion and thoughts on the question changed as a result of hearing my classmates discuss it.
2. I like both types of harkness, but I prefer to discuss about material we have already learned. Sometimes when we discuss about material we haven't discussed, there is more speculation than knowledge being discussed at the table. I personally am more interested in knowledge rather than speculation.
3. Harknessing about known material can reinforce my understanding about certain topics we have learned in class, but I find that I have to think much more deeply and intently when we discuss new material. Both types of discussion are valuable in different ways.
4. Discussion is much more valuable to me because I can create much more intelligent and informed opinions by listening to what my classmates have to say about the topic. Blogging about a topic does not provide the same opportunity to learn as discussion because we cannot learn from each other as well by blogging.
1. I feel that today's Harkness was effective, because we were able to get a broad range of opinions on the question.
ReplyDelete2. I prefer Harknessing about new topics, because I feel it better prepares us for learning the upcoming topics.
3. I feel we learn more in Harknessing on already learned material, because then we can apply our knowledge to the Harkness, making more informed statements.
4. I don't feel this method would be more beneficial than a Harkness, because the Harkness gives us perspectives which are feel should be taken into consideration when answering open-ended questions such as this one.
1) I believe today's harkness about progress was effective because I did progress in my thinking about how the world runs itself and how it is conducted.
ReplyDelete2) I enjoyed today because its was phrased in a way that way open ended enough to really dig deep for ideas on how to answer the question.
3) I learn more from new material because it gets me thinking about ideas that will relate to our next topic of study.
4) This would be more beneficial in that I would only think my own thoughts, which would be somewhat biased compared to others. So then once I post my answer I could check other class mates posts' for more opinions on the topic.
1. The harkness today was fairly effective yet we did not come to a consensus. If we had agreed on a definition for the interpretation of the question, it would have been easier for everyone to agree on a certain standpoint.
ReplyDelete2. I think it would be helpful to have a “cold” harkness before we study a topic then another harkness after studying said topic. This would be most effective because it would show how learning the material changes our opinions on the issue.
3. I learn the most about a topic when we harkness at the beginning and end of a subject.
4. It would be more beneficial because it would accurately represent our opinions of the question without influence from other students
1. I think it was very effective. It was a great way to kick off the new trimester. I really did enjoy the harkness even though I did not speak that often. I would definitely like to do harknesses like this more regularly.
ReplyDelete2. It does not matter to me whether we harkness on new material or something we have already learned. They both have their advantages, but overall it's fun to harkness about both. Maybe switch it up and do one or the other every time we harkness.
3. I think I learned more from learned material harknesses because there is more information to bring up to the discussion. When we harkness about things we do not know about it is harder to stay on topic and bring up valid information.
4. I think that progress is the most important product because without the progress we would not have any real, or good final product. For example, you do not see a construction worker go straight to building a house without any idea of how to start it or having a plan. We need that "blueprint" in life if we are going to progress anywhere. I think that progressing is better than not progressing because if we did not progress we would not have new technology, and we might have problems that are not solvable without technology. However, if we do make progress, we have the new technology, but we raise new problems in different aspects. To summarize, if we do make progress, we have a win and a loss, but if we do not make progress we have a loss and a loss.
1. Harkness was somewhat effective today. I didn’t really participate because I didn’t know what to say. It prepared us for what we were about to learn today which is helpful.
ReplyDelete2. I prefer harkness discussions about information that we have already studied because I know what I am going to say and I think it starts a more in depth understanding of the topic that we are talking about.
3. I learn more when we harkness about something that we have already studied because I get a new opinion on the information and not just my own. It is helpful for me when understanding why we are learning something. It also gives me a chance to put my knowledge into words and helps me develop my ideas that I have produced while studying the topic.
4. It would be more helpful because I would have more time to process my ideas and find out what I wanted to say rather than being put on the spot. Often, my ideas get stolen from others in the room or I get interrupted before I speak and it is hard for me to get my ideas out.
1. Today's harkness, in my opinion, was very effective. I think that helped us to prepare for what we will be studying while on the topic of industrial revolutions. However, I think that it would have been more helpful if we had the harkness after our lecture because it would have prepared us for the discussion.
ReplyDelete2. I would like to harkness about topics that relate to class material that we have already learned. I would prefer to have more background on the topic that we are discussing.
3. I think that I would learn more by harknessing material that we have already learned about. It would be helpful to have information before the discussion so that I am more confident in what is being discussed.
4.I think that discussing the topic in class would be more helpful because I can hear others opinions. But in some cases I think that it would be more beneficial if we were to have a blog assignment because some outside research could be incorporated into what we have aready learned and what we will be learning.
1. The harkness today was quite effective because it got me interested in the follow up to the harkness discussion, the Industrial Revolution. Also personally I enjoy harkness discussion about more broad "higher thinking" questions..
ReplyDelete2. I prefer both. In general I just like harkness but if I had to choose I would say I like to harkness before we actually learn a unit. This way we don't have to "cite our sources" and the discussion is purely our own logic rather than ideas we have learned from the actual unit.
3. I think I probable learn more in harkness discussions after we learn a unit because I already have a knowledge basis that I can build off of. Although a harkness discussion before we learn a unit may be useful because It usually interests students causing them to pay more attention and be more diligent when actually learning the lesson because they may want to find answers or confirmation for their ideas/theories from the original harkness.
4. Providing historical examples pertaining to the question. Personally I just think that your own logic is more important than knowledge told to you so therefore just thinking about the question would be the most valuable.
probably*
ReplyDelete1. Yes I believe the harkness was effective today because everyone got a word in today and we all seemed pretty involved when talking about progression.
ReplyDelete2. It varies but it really depends on how interested I am in that topic but even when I am not, I still try to participate a lot in the Harkness.
3. Haknessing on new material before the start of a unit of study because I already come into the new material with some ideas of my own but those usually change after the harkness.
4. No it would not be more beneficial to me because when we discuss these kind of things in class, they tend to expand my view on the topic we are discussing.
1) The harkness was effective. However, not the entire time but overall I gained knowledge and it made me really think about the trimester question and re-learn some valuable harkness skills.
ReplyDelete2) I prefer it to be on topics that we are learning. I enjoyed today's however I felt it was slightly chaotic. When we are more informed about the topic it can be a more focussed conversation with facts to back up our opinions.
3) I learn the most when we harkness before stating a new unit. It presents all the ideas and background for what is to come. Harknessing about a previous topic reaffirms information but does not teach me anything new.
4) The only way it would be beneficial to me is that is would allow me to put my answer into a more organized fashion
1. The harkness was very effective today. I was not entirely clear on my position for the question, but as the conversation grew I gained my view upon the situation. I feel like it was a good conversation today and a great opening to our new topic.
ReplyDelete2. I prefer new topics because there is a mass majority of ideas that can answer the question, instead of an opinion or fact that has been explained to us that influences our answer/opinion.
3.I learn the most in both. Before I understand or learn the subject or information needed to be understood, I am talking and interacting with common subjects that are parallel to the actual topic. It helps me understand the surface on which we only know a little about. I also learn more and I understand the different sides to a story when we harkness after we learn a new subject. It reenforces the learning that we had been taught and helps grasp the overall message trying to be explained. Helps me a lot when we harkness in general, very unique way of teaching.
4. I would rather answer this question through a harkness since I am able to input my ideas and others help alter the image to support more than just my opinion. I am able to receive and overall greater idea on the question than just being asked and having to respond, without other opinons being able to explain more than just the surface of the question.
1. I do not feel the harkness was effective, in the sense that we did not reach a conclusion, however, the prompt did get everyone involved and created lots of controversy, which was nice to see.
ReplyDelete2. I prefer talking about topics we have already learned, as it is much more comforting knowing that I have the knowledge in my head to back up my positions. I also did not feel like this had any affiliation with the topic in class-I did not understand a connection between the harkness about progress and the Industrial Revolution. The facts prove obviously that the two are dependent on each other, however, it was difficult to see why talking about the definition of Progression and why the progression of Ferrari's and iPads being cool was important
3. I'd prefer learning the new material over harkness because,it's so easy to adapt to the opinions of others and I would prefer to develop my own thoughts about the unit before I can be influenced by anyone else's.
4. I think this would also be beneficial, because it would help me to sort out all "jumbled" thinking and put it all down plain and simple on paper. It would probably help myself, more than anyone, to understand what it is that I am trying to say.
1:The Harkness was very effective. Everyone was contributing and there was some arguments. It would have been more effective if we new more and had more to comment on.
ReplyDelete2: I prefer to Harkness about something that we have learned about because I can comment on more about the subject.
3: I think you learn the most when we already know something about because we know enough to infer more and debate more.
4: I think it would be beneficial to answer that question on a blog because you don't have other people challenging you in person and its easier to just voice your opinion.
1. I think that the harkness discussion today was effective because most everyone got a word in. And also the topic was intresting to me and as the conversation grew I began to figure what side I leaned towards.
ReplyDelete2. I like both but I prefer to harkness before we learn the actual unit. I liked it this way better because I feel like the ideas that we were saying were our own and as the conversation got more intailed I really considered what other people thought. I felt that I learned more about the topic becasue we did the harkness before rather then after when most of our ideas come from what we have already studied.
3. I cant decide, I really theink I learn from both but inn different ways. When we do the harkness before the unit I think it pulls me in and makes more intrested on what we are about to learn about. It also helps me understand other peoples view point so I feel like Im not as narrow minded. But then again when we do the harkness after we have learned tha material I think I already have my mind set on my opinion and its not going to change because I can back up what I think with the information we have learned. I also think that people tend to repeat themselves more when harknessing after the unit because now theres facts that come into play that actually happened so its harder to come up with things outside of the box. I guess I feel like I dont get as much out of harknessing after but I still am learning things.
4. I would rather answer the question through a harkness because I can get my opinion out there and also take in others to help me understand more. I am able to get more out of a harknness then I would if I were just to simply answer the question. Withought others input my answer would be lacking and not as much thoughtu put into it.
1. I believe that the harkness was very effective andseemed to get us really thinking about the different sides of progress, as well as seeing other opinions on the topic of progress to open our eyes, which prepares us for the topic of the industrial revolution. It got me thinking about the side effects of progress as well as specifically the side effects of our more recent technological inventions.
ReplyDelete2. I think that harknessing on new topics is the most exciting, simply because the subject is new but also because we are sort of exploring it on our own as a group.
3. I think that both are great learning experiences in their own way. Harknesses on class material that we have already learned helps both to review and better comprehend the material and we are able to get more in-depth and get out each of our opinions on what happened and how it affects us today. However, harknesses on new material is equally important to open up discussion on the topic and get us thinking about big-picture stuff.
4. I think the only way in which this would be more beneficial is that it could be better referenced and reflected on in the near future for more ideas, however the harkness style seems to bring a lot more ideas out (especially for me) as well as getting a better casual understanding (making one both more knowledgable and comfortable speaking about a given topic) compared to just knowing the material.
1. I did not think the harkness was very effective today. Though everyone did speak, we didn't do a good job at being considerate of one another. I think this was in part due to the topic, which was in my opinion not the best, because I saw only one clear answer. Even though most people seemed to agree, the discussion was very heated, which confused me.
ReplyDelete2. I prefer to discuss topics we have not yet covered. I recall a discussion on the French Revolution where the answer was clear because we had studied the issue so in depth that no one really had anything to say and there was no argument.
3. I think harknessing on new material helps to prepare everyone for the upcoming topics. I also think that harknessing on material we have briefly gone over betters our understanding.
4. If I were to answer this question simply on a blog, I would lose the influence of other's thoughts and I probably wouldn't be able to answer the question at all. Doing so would make the topic into an essay instead of an interesting discussion.
Chris Kim
ReplyDelete1.The harkness discussion today was very effective because the we went through many steps before answering the ultimate question. We analyzed the definition of progress and got the arguments of each side.
2&3 I personally like how we answered a question today before we connected it to class material. It allows the students to have their own perspectives and ideas about the topic. If the material is taught first, we will be brainwashed. It is also interesting to see how our perspectives changed once we connected the question or the topic to class material.
4. It is definitely more beneficial to discuss as a class. Each student can see the different perspectives of the other students. It allows us to answer the question with more thought.
1. I thought the Harkness was effective in that the topic provided for an interesting discussion which the class easily engaged in.
ReplyDelete2. I prefer to Harkness about topics that we’ve already covered because everyone has at least been provided with the basic information that is necessary to explore the topic further. This ensures that the class is, in a sense, “on the same page.” However, once this basic understanding is established, the class can delve into a deeper discussion based on what they already know.
3. I think that discussing both new and old topics are valuable learning experiences. When Harknessing about things we’ve already learned about, the class gets a chance to reflect on the topic and share different perspectives with the information we’ve learned. However, Harknessing about new topics is also beneficial to me because it allows me to explore the new topic through discussion. I usually find that as the discussion develops, so does my opinion/ understanding of the topic.
4. I always find that writing out my thoughts always help me more because I get more of a chance to contemplate. It is easier for me to organize my thoughts to clearly convey what I am trying to say to the best of my ability.
1. I think that the harkness was effective, but we focused too much on specific progress, mainly technological advancements. I would have preferred the conversation to be driven by more sociological ideas.
ReplyDelete2. Old material because there is less fear of being wrong about certain facts and it gets harder to use examples if you are not fully aware of the topic. It is also frustrating when other students use factually incorrect examples to back up a point, stemming from their/our very basic knowledge of the subject. Also, harkness can get very off-topic, opinion dominated, incredibly vague, or much too specific, all of which detract from getting to a conclusive answer or idea.
3. New material because you get to form opinions that you personally may not have come up with. Also, when harknessing about previously learned material the conversation tends to get very redundant.
4. I think it would be very beneficial for me, (and perhaps not for everyone) because writing about something individually organizes my thoughts better than harkness, and I see the information as more coherent.
(this is Emily St. Marie)
1. The Harkness discussion was effective that the subject that we talked about brought interest into other students.
ReplyDelete2. I prefer that we have something that everyone knows about because everyone knows the same amount in the subject. In a harkness discussion where no information is given, it is possible someone may know everything and is able to talk with heavily supported thoughts.
3. I think that it depends on the subject that is at hand, of course it is good to harkness about things you already know with more dense subjects that you focus on one man or one small time period. In Lighter subjects, like focusing on a reoccurring theme in politics or the state of France is something more that would be able to have a harkness discussion before the subject is taught.
4. Writing out thoughts, so you know what you are gonna say and when you are gonna say it. This helps me relate to other points I brought up and helps connect and bring in new possible points one is not looking at.

ReplyDelete1. The Harkness today was effective, it was a mess, but still effective. We were effective in conversing, defining, and rationalizing answers to the question, though I think some students felt left out of the discussion at times. I feel that with a question as interesting and fun as the one we had in class we needed a longer span of time to really get the most out of it as well as be told how much time we will be allowed to discuss the question.
ReplyDelete2. I don't really have a preference to what the topic is as long as it's interesting and fun to discuss. I did enjoy the topic we had in class.
3. I think learned or new material doesn't matter as much as the people in the discussion, the flow or organization, and the type of topic/question to help me learn and benefit from harkness.
4. I definitely think that one gets more ideas and knowledge out of a harkness than they would writing a blogpost because they converse with others as well as define and refine words, ideas, and their personal positions about a topic.
1. I believe the Harkness was rather effective in that it was able to bring everyone to the table in terms of interest for the classroom material, a good warm-up to the lesson.
ReplyDelete2. I believe that a remedy of both is good for the soul. It is good to pique student's interest on a new subject with a out of the blue Harkness that allows everyone to share what they already happen to know on that particular matter, helping the teacher determine a good starting point. Also, Harknesses at the end learning a subject allow the teacher to judge how his student's level understanding.
3. Like the answer above, a Harkness on new material allows students to share what they already know, but no information or guidance is usually given from the teacher, so no new "test" information is shared. During a Harkness of already learned material, the students are able to argue and recap using the stuff they gathered in class. But no "new" information is learned, just revisited.
4. It allows us to form our own opinions on the subject, and not be "bullied" by the Harkness "sharks" that are all too present in our school today. Along with this, in a Harkness, sometimes the conversation is dominated by several individuals leading to a lack of participate from many members of the class, and it is harder to assign a grade.
1. The harkness discussion from today was very effective. We talked about the trimester question in good detail, and it changed my perspective on it. The conversation flowed, and we as a class, seemed to have a clear conclusion on the meaning of the question.
ReplyDelete2. I prefer to Harkness on topics that we have already learned about because it really allows everyone to have a clear understanding on what is actually being discussed. The more you know about something, the more examples can be brought in, making the conversation richer in factual knowledge.
3. I learn the most when harknessing with new material before the unit of study because it gives me a look into something that I am not comfortable or familiar with. That being said, I come out of the discussion knowing more and having an opinion about the topic, allowing me to learn more from it.
4. It would be more beneficial to write an answer out on a blog because it would allow me to really flesh out my thoughts on the topic, and really have a take on it. The more time I would have to think deeply on what is being asked, the more time I would have to develop a clear conclusion.

1) I felt that the harkness today was effective today. One of the key reasons that it was so beneficial was we had no prior knowledge of the issue and therefore we all needed to use critical thinking to relate is back to what we are learning. This not only enhances what we have learned, but also helps us understand the harkness question.
ReplyDelete2) I like harknessing about topics we have not already talked about because no one has a biased opinion coming into the conversation. This leaves everyone open to interpretation of others student’s points, and also what we believe individually.
3) New material because by harknessing before, we are opening up our minds to the topic making it easier to learn. This is different if we harkness after we have learned the material because after we have learned it, we have formulated our opinions and usually are not easily swayed from a position.
4) The only beneficial part of my answer you would receive would be my personal opinion. In the same way it just proves that having a harkness in class without prior preparation sets us all up to succeed more because of our initial lack of knowledge on the topic creates and open mindedness which prevents us from formulating a biased opinion and shutting ourselves down from the rest of the conversation.

1. I think that the harkness was effective because we all got into a heated discussion about the question. I think that it was a good open-ended question because we never truly came to an agreement or created a working definition for the process and product.
ReplyDelete2. I am indecisive about which one I would choose. I prefer to harkness about topics that we haven’t learned yet because it gives everyone a chance to jump into the conversation without prior knowledge of the question. It could be tricky however, because if a certain person knows about what we are learning prior to learning the lessons, then it puts them ahead. It’s harder to harkness when you don’t know anything about the topic. After learning it, everyone is on the same level and have the same chance to be a part of the discussion.
3. I learn the most when harknessing before learning the material because then I go into the lesson with knowledge about the topic from the discussion. It’s good to open a lesson with a question, and have as all brainstorm before going into the unit. It is definitely beneficial to me to develop an understanding prior to the lesson
4. If I was asked to write down an answer on the blog, I would be able to say what I have to say, without being interrupted. On the other hand, I wouldn’t benefit from what my peers have to say during a discussion. Yes, they are doing the same assignment, but it’s harder to be persuaded one way or another when written down on a blog. I also think that no one would go through each and every response written so it wouldn’t be as beneficial for everyone.
1.) yes the harkness today was effective because it made us think about the question "Is progress the most important product." Everybody had different opinions which was good because it made the conversation interesting. The harkness mad everybody think beyond the basic surface of the question to get an appropriate answer. The harkness also in my opinion made kids listen to other opinions that the maybe never thought of before.
ReplyDelete2.)I prefer topics that we have not discussed in class because everybody on a knowledge stand point is on a different page. This makes the conversation more interesting as we move forward in the discussion. It also makes it easier because there are less facts and more personal opinions.
3.)I think that I learn better when we are harknessing about new material before we actually join the topic because it leads me into the next section we are going to learn about. If we did it after we would be harknessing about material we have already learned and this would be redundant.
4.)If I were to write on the blog rather than have a an open harkness discussion I would probably go into more detail on the subject on the blog. I would do this because when I write I feel obligated to write more than I would if I was just talking about it to another person. When
I talk I don't talk for length, but I would talk for substance.
1. I feel as though yesterday's harkness was effective. We did come to some what of a jumbled conclusion, but we got some great ideas out there. It was messy and after awhile it gets a little redundant because the people who have a stronger, louder voice are the ones who get to speak more. I saw many instances where quieter people were stopped and not able to speak. Not saying for myself, but it seems to happen a lot. Maybe with less people in the harkness we could get more done
ReplyDelete2. With more knowledge it is easier to come up with ideas about the question, but sometimes in a harkness where you don't know much can be good because it makes you think more and wonder. Overall, harknesses about topics we have learned about allows more ideas and opinions to come out because they have built up their opinions before.
4. By answering this online, it allows students to think more about their opinions and allow them to research a little. I think it would be more beneficial to discuss it in class because it can get heated and get more emotions or opinions into it.
3.Most of the time I think that harknessing about something we are informed on is more beneficial.Yesterday was an exception, it was interesting because we used our knowledge about progression to make a good conversation.
1.) I thought that the harkness discussion was effective because it helped me change my opinion and thoughts on the trimester question. Even though as a class we did not come to definite conclusion, I still think that it was effective and a good way to share different opinions.
ReplyDelete2.) I have mixed feelings on this question. I think that it is good to have a harkness discussion about things that we have been taught because then it is a good way for us to reinforce our knowledge of the topic. Also it’s good because then we can call upon examples and subjects that we have learned so that we can use them to back up our opinions. But I also like how with this particular harkness discussion, everyone came in cold and had unique and raw opinions that they would contribute and then we would, as a class, build off of, which I thought was fun and beneficial.
3.) Harknessing about the new material, like yesterday, was great and got my thoughts flowing and I think that it was easier for me to learn and take in different opinions; whereas harknessing about topics that we have already learned also lets me learn some new things. However, I think that harknessing about topics that we have learned does more reinforcing my knowledge rather than teaching me new things.
4.) Both of them seem beneficial to me because personally I am able to form better arguments and ideas when I am writing things down on my own. However, I really like being able to hear the opinions of my classmates and form my opinions off of what others have said, too.
Soren
ReplyDelete1. Yes, but we focused on things too specific to come to any decisive conclusions.
2. I like harknesses with less speculation and more factual reasoned argument. As such, I prefer harknessing on things we've learned about.
3. Already learned material. I find it easier to connect discussions to lecture information after I have the facts floating around in my head.
4. Hmmm. I develop my opinions both ways, but in discussion to a greater extent. Both would be helpful, but I would rather discuss.
1. Yes, the Harkness was effective today even though it was a new subject. I still felt that I had just as much to say but more to learn in this situation when compared to a Harkness where I knew the subject well.
ReplyDelete2. Either, I enjoy Harknessing in both situations and I feel I learn from both.
3. I learn the most on new material, mainly because I probably do not know much about the subject and can listen to other’s opinions. During a Harkness where I know the subject well, I feel as if I am just stating and defending my opinion repeatedly.
4. It would not be more beneficial with the exception that everyone must do it for an assignment. Everyone’s voice would be heard instead of a few students, but some opinions might not be fully formed. In a live discussion you can listen and further develop your thoughts.
1. Yes, because everyone talked, no one person or people dominated the discussion, and lots of different ideas and perspectives were discussed.
ReplyDelete2. I am somewhat indifferent on the matter, I think it is interesting to Harkness both on things one knows and doesn’t know, as the former involves more on what one knows and how you apply it, and the latter involves one’s own thoughts and beliefs. I like the latter better, just because of my confidence of my own thoughts and beliefs.
3. I learn the most when harknessing about things I don’t know about, just because I hear a larger diversity of opinions that are still being formed. Also, When I haven’t learned about the material, I have much more still to learn.
4. It would not be more beneficial, the great thing about a harkness is the ability to learn from others, and build your opinions on others, while learning why yet others opinion might not be as well formed as others.
1. Yes it was helpful today because it helped me gain a stronger understanding of the trimester question.
ReplyDelete2. I find it doesn't matter if it is new or not but rather that it is interesting.
3. In a new Harkness I am forced to try to understand the topic of what other people know, then again I can be deceived by other people limited amount of information. So in sense I can learn more from a new topic but who knows it might be fake.
4.It would be more thought out but less of a wide angle perspective if I just wrote a paper while harkness give me less time to think and more time to just go off my instinct and see more perspective plus they are more fun.
1. Yes it was very helpful because it helped me understand the trimester question more and allowed me to get a sense of what it truly means.
